March/april Missions

The children are learning the teachings of Jesus during Lent.

Our March/April missions are collecting for Church World Service Blankets and Kits until Palm Sunday, April 13th.

We will accept monetary donations. Please note for CWS Blankets and they can be put in an envelope for offering plate or mailed to 741 Taborton Road, Sand Lake, NY 12153

The children leave you with this:

Family Style Turkey Dinner Saturday June 7th

We will be having our Turkey Dinner on Saturday, June 7th.

Dine in or take out.

Take out 4:00 pm

Seating's will be 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

The dinner will be $16.00.

The dinner will include, roast turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes, gray, corn, green beans, coleslaw, cranberry sauce, roll w/butter, and apple crisp with ice cream for dessert.

Summer Festival

Join us on Saturday August 2, 2025, for our 116th annual Summer Festival and Chicken BBQ at Zion’s United Church of Christ in Taborton (741 Taborton Road in Sand Lake).

Booths are open from 10:00am to 7:00pm and music from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with DJ Dan Ernst.

Games for both kids and adults include the fishpond, ring toss, milk bottle, duck float and dart booths.

Enjoy our food and fancy booths and visit the raffle table with prizes from many local businesses.

Taborton Treasures offers our version of a large yard sale and there will be an Auction starting at 1:00pm.

Chicken BBQ ($16.00) half chicken, baked potato, vegetable, and dessert will be served at 4:30pm and 5:30pm.

Come Join us for Rally day

We hope you all will join us this coming Sunday, September 14th, at 10am, for an extra special Rally Day service to welcome in the new church year. This year’s Rally Day we will not only welcome our children back to Sunday School (Faith Formation), we will also be welcoming confirmands for our first Confirmation Class in many years! We are delighted that so many of our Church Family youth have responded to the call to join the Confirmation Class, confirming their faith in Christ and their desire to join our church. The enthusiasm is as contagious among the adults as it is among the confirmands! Let’s all help them with their journey to becoming a full member of our church!

On Sunday, the Sunday School children will be released after Offertory Prayer. For this first week of Confirmation class, confirmands will remain for the full church service so they can remain alongside our Church Family who will welcome confirmands and begin to teach them the various roles we all play in our church services. Confirmands can expect not to go home empty-handed…a welcome gift surprise awaits each of them!

Following Sunday’s service, join us for a special coffee hour to welcome everyone back! All are welcome, as always! We hope to see you on this special Rally Day, Sunday, September 14th for our kickoff (just in time for football season, right?).

NOVEMBER/december MISSIONS

The Sunday School children are learning more about stewardship and thankfulness. They say: “They are thankful for all God has given them and they want to serve God by collecting items for those in need in their community.”

They are asking for your help with their November/December mission which will be collecting non-perishable food items.

Items may be put in the plastic totes at Church and they will be distributed to Doors of Hope for those in need within our community.

They will also accept monetary donations. Please note for Sunday school Nov/ Dec Mission and they can be put in an envelope for the offering plate, an online donation, or mailed to 741 Taborton Road, Sand Lake, NY 12153

Church Happenings Holy week

Join us for worship every Sunday at 10am.

Palm Sunday

Sunday March 29th is Palm Sunday we will be handing out palms.

Cross Walk

Our church will be participating in the Stations of the Cross Walk on Good Friday April 3rd. Starting at St. Henry’s at 9:00am to Crystal Cove

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunrise Service Sunday April 5th leading our service will be Dr. Donald Stevens (DJ) and Gretchen Elmendorf by Little Bowman Pond. Be sure to dress for the weather. Join us for a delicious free breakfast to follow.

Easter Service Sunday April 5th at 10:00am will be in church. Leading that service will be Gretchen Elmendorf.

Zion’s UCC Roast Turkey Dinner

Zion’s United Church of Christ, 741 Taborton Road, Sand Lake, NY will be serving a Roast Turkey Dinner on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in the church hall. Servings will be at 4:30 & 5:30. Come and enjoy a “Family Style” all you care to eat dinner featuring: Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, corn, cabbage salad, rolls & butter with apple crisp and ice cream for dessert. There will be a choice of lemonade, iced tea, milk, coffee, or hot tea for a beverage. The cost is $16.00 for adults, $8.00 for children (5-12), and under 5 years no charge. We will also have take-outs available starting at 4:00.
